Chapter 36, Section 3 (פֶּרֶק ל״ו אוֹת ג׳)

3. At that moment he is silenced, and has no answer for the Mashiach (ג. בְּאוֹתוֹ שָׁעָה מִשְׁתַּתֵּק וְאֵין לוֹ תְּשׁוּבָה לְמָשִׁיחַ), and even Michael the great prince is silenced (וַאֲפִילוּ מִיכָאֵל שַׂר הַגָּדוֹל מִשְׁתַּתֵּק), and has no answer (וְאֵין לוֹ תְּשׁוּבָה), as it is said: “I waited, but they did not speak” (Job 32:17) (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: הוֹחַלְתִּי כִּי לֹא יְדַבֵּרוּ). Immediately the mercies of the Holy One Blessed Be He are stirred upon the Mashiach (מִיָּד מִתְגַּלְגְּלִין רַחֲמָיו שֶׁל הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא עַל מָשִׁיחַ), and He answers him on the day of distress (וְעוֹנֶה אוֹתוֹ בְּיוֹם צָרָה), saying to them: “Fools of the world! After My children you question?” (אָמַר לָהֶם: שׁוֹטִים שֶׁבָּעוֹלָם, אַחַר בָּנַי מְהַרְהֲרִין אַתֶּם) “Do any among you recite the Keri’at Shema of the morning like My children?” (כְּלוּם יֵשׁ בָּכֶם קוֹרִין קְרִיאַת שְׁמַע שַׁחֲרִית כִּבְנַי) Concerning that hour it is said: “I will declare your righteousness” (Isaiah 57:12) (עַל אוֹתוֹ שָׁעָה אוֹמֵר: אֲנִי אַגִּיד צִדְקָתֵךְ]; read not your deeds, but those very deeds (אַל תִּקְרִי מַעֲשַׂיִךְ, אֶלָּא אוֹתָן מַעֲשַׂיִךְ).
