Chapter 37, Section 1 (פֶּרֶק ל״ז אוֹת א׳)

1. Another explanation: for behold, a day is coming—the days of Mashiach (א. דָּבָר אַחֵר: כִּי הִנֵּה יוֹם בָּא לִימוֹת הַמָּשִׁיחַ) when the nations of the world will convert (מִתְגַּיְּרִין אוּמוֹת הָעוֹלָם), and they will come with Israel (וּבָאִין עִם יִשְׂרָאֵל), and they will fulfill the commandments of Sukkah, circumcision, Tefillin, and Tzitzit (וּמְקַיְּמִין מִצְוַת סֻכָּה וּמִילָה וּתְפִלִּין וְצִיצִית), and they will enter and go out with Israel for forty years (וְנִכְנָסִין וְיוֹצְאִין עִם יִשְׂרָאֵל אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה), as it is said: “And many nations shall be joined to Hashem” (Zechariah 2:15) (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: וְנִלְווּ גוֹיִם רַבִּים אֶל יְיָ). And after forty years, Gog and Magog shall come against Israel (וּלְאַחַר אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה בָּא גוֹג וּמָגוֹג עַל יִשְׂרָאֵל), he and all the kings of the East and West (הוּא וְכָל מַלְכֵי מִזְרָח וּמַעֲרָב), and the land of Gomer and all its sides (וּמְדִינַת גֹּמֶר וְכָל אַגְפֶיהָ), as it is said: “Gomer and all its bands…” (Ezekiel 38:6) (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: גֹּמֶר וְכָל אַגְפֶיהָ). And when the converts see (וּכְשֶׁרוֹאִים הַגֵּרִים) who had converted—Gog and Magog and all his host that came with them (שֶׁנִּתְגַּיְּרוּ לְגוֹג וּמָגוֹג וְכָל חֵילוֹ שֶׁבָּאוּ עִמָּהֶם), they ask them and say (מְשָׁאִילִין וְאוֹמְרִים לָהֶם): “Where are you going?” (לְהֵיכָן אַתֶּם הוֹלְכִים) They answer them: “Against Hashem and against His Mashiach” (אָמְרוּ לָהֶם: עַל יְיָ וְעַל מְשִׁיחוֹ) (Psalms 2:2). Immediately, they cast off their Tzitzit upon the ground (מִיָּד מְנַתְּקִין צִיצִיּוֹתֵיהֶם בַּקָּרְקַע), and they kick over their Sukkot (וּבוֹעֲטִין בְּסֻכּוֹתֵיהֶם), and they remove their Mezuzot (וְנוֹטְלִין מְזוּזוֹתֵיהֶם), and they go with them against Israel (וְהוֹלְכִין עִמָּהֶם עַל יִשְׂרָאֵל), as it is said: “Let us break their bands asunder” (Psalms 2:3) (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: נְנַתְּקָה אֶת מוֹסְרוֹתֵימוֹ). At that moment, the Holy One Blessed Be He sits and laughs (בְּאוֹתוֹ שָׁעָה יוֹשֵׁב הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא וְשׂוֹחֵק), and every man of Israel surrounds himself with nine thousand five hundred swords (וְכָל אִישׁ מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל מַקִּיפִין לוֹ תֵּשַׁע אֲלָפִים וַחֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת חֲרָבוֹת), as it is said: “Why do the nations rage?” (Psalms 2:1) (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: לָמָּה רָגְשׁוּ גוֹיִם)—In Gematria, it is so. (בְּגִימַטְרִיָּיא הָכִי הֲוֵי).
