Chapter 38, Section 3 (פֶּרֶק ל״ח אוֹת ג׳)

3. “He that sits in the heavens shall laugh” (Psalms 2:4) (ג. יוֹשֵׁב בַּשָּׁמַיִם יִשְׂחָק] what does Mashiach do regarding the deceit that he shall perform against the nations of the world? (מָה מָשִׁיחַ עַל הָרְמָאוּת שֶׁעָתִיד מָשִׁיחַ לַעֲשׂוֹת לָהֶם לָאוּמוֹת הָעוֹלָם) At the time they see him, they are ashamed and say: “What shall we do?” (בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁרוֹאִין אוֹתוֹ מִתְבּוֹיְשִׁין וְאוֹמְרִים: מָה נַעֲשֶׂה) And he says to them: “From whom are you afraid? Go to your idol and let it save you!” (וְהוּא אוֹמֵר לָהֶם: מִמִּי אַתֶּם מִתְיָרְאִין לְכוּ אֵצֶל עֲבוֹדָה זָרָה שֶׁלָּהֶם וְהִיא מַצֶּלֶת אֶתְכֶם) Immediately, each and every one goes to his own fear (מִיָּד כָּל אֶחָד וְאֶחָד הוֹלֵךְ אֵצֶל יִרְאָתוֹ), and they fall instantly (וְהֵן נוֹפְלוֹת מִיָּד), and each says to the other: “In vain and for emptiness we labored all those years!” (אוֹמֵר זֶה לָזֶה: לַשָּׁוְא וְלָרִיק יָגַעְנוּ כָּל אוֹתָן הַשָּׁנִים). They return and come to Mashiach and say: “These fears of theirs are nothing at all!” (חוֹזְרִין וּבָאִים אֵצֶל מָשִׁיחַ וְאוֹמְרִים: יִרְאָתָן שֶׁלָּהֶם אֵין מַמָּשׁ בָּהֶן) He says to them: “Do not fear. You have no deities harder than these—sun and moon.” (אוֹמֵר לָהֶם: אַל תִּירְאוּ. אֵין לָכֶם אֱלוֹהוּת קָשִׁים מֵאֵלּוּ, וְהֵן חַמָּה וּלְבָנָה.) Immediately they go to the sun and the moon (מִיָּד הוֹלְכִין לָהֶם אֵצֶל חַמָּה וּלְבָנָה), and they see that their light is extinguished (וְרוֹאִין אוֹתָן שֶׁכָּבָה אוֹרָן), as it is said: “Then the moon shall be ashamed, and the sun shall be confounded” (Isaiah 24:23) (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: וְחָפְרָה הַלְּבָנָה וּבֹשָׁה הַחַמָּה). And they return to Mashiach and say to him: “The sun and the moon—its light is extinguished!” (וְחוֹזְרִין אֵצֶל מָשִׁיחַ וְאוֹמְרִים לוֹ: חַמָּה וּלְבָנָה כָּבָה אוֹרָן), as it is said: “Nations raged, kingdoms tottered” (Psalms 46:7) (שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: הָמוּ גוֹיִם מָטוּ מַמְלָכוֹת).
