Mishnah 5 (מִשְׁנָה ה׳)

Tables of gold, seventy-seven (שֻׁלְחָנוֹת שֶׁל זָהָב שִׁבְעִים וְשִׁבְעָה), and their gold was from the walls of Gan Eden (וְזְהָבָם מִקִּירוֹת שֶׁל גַּן עֵדֶן), which was revealed to Shlomo (שֶׁנִּתְגַּלָּה לִשְׁלֹמֹה). And they shine with the radiance of the sun and the moon, which shine in the heights of the world (וּמַזְהִירִין זֹהַר חַמָּה וּלְבָנָה שֶׁמַּזְהִירִין בְּרוּם עוֹלָם). And all the silver and gold that was in the world from the six days of Creation until the day that Tzidkiyahu reigned (וְכָל כֶּסֶף וְזָהָב שֶׁהָיָה בָּעוֹלָם מִשֵּׁשֶׁת יְמֵי בְּרֵאשִׁית עַד יוֹם שֶׁמָּלַךְ צִדְקִיָּהוּ), were not equal in value to the gold that plated the Heikhal [Sanctuary] of the House (לֹא הָיוּ שָׁוִין עֵרֶךְ הַזָּהָב שֶׁהָיָה מְצֻפֶּה עַל הֵיכַל הַבַּיִת). From within and from without (מִבַּיִת וּמִבָּחוּץ), there is no searching, no measure, no limit, and no weight for that gold (אֵין חֵקֶר וְאֵין שִׁעוּר וְאֵין קִצְבָּה וְאֵין מִשְׁקָל לְאוֹתוֹ הַזָּהָב), that plated the Heikhal [Sanctuary] and the face of the Heikhal [Sanctuary] (שֶׁהָיָה מְצֻפֶּה עַל הַהֵיכָל וְעַל פְּנֵי הַהֵיכָל). And furthermore, seven thousand talents of gold (וְעוֹד שִׁבְעַת אֲלָפִים כִּכְּרֵי זָהָב), all these they brought and concealed in Segal haBar [Segal of the Wilderness] (כָּל אֵלֶּה הֵבִיאוּם וְגָנְזוּם בְּסֶגֶל הַבָּר). And precious stones with which the Heikhal [Sanctuary] was built (וַאֲבָנִים טוֹבוֹת שֶׁהָיָה הַהֵיכָל בָּנוּי בָּהֶם), and three courses of precious stones (וְנִדְבָּכִין שְׁלוֹשָׁה שֶׁל אַבְנֵי יָקָר), and one course of almug wood (וְנִדְבָּךְ אֶחָד שֶׁל עֲצֵי אַלְמוֹגִים). And the three courses are of precious stones (וְהַנִּדְבָּכִין שְׁלוֹשָׁה הֵם מֵאֲבָנִים טוֹבוֹת). And the length of one precious stone was seven cubits (וְאֹרֶךְ אֶבֶן טוֹבָה אַחַת שֶׁל שֶׁבַע בָּאַמָּה), and its breadth was five cubits, which David prepared (וְרָחְבָּהּ ה׳ בָּאַמָּה שֶׁתִּקֵּן דָּוִד). And the length of one pearl was eleven cubits (וְאֹרֶךְ מַרְגָּלִית אַחַת עֶשֶׁר בָּאַמָּה). All these David prepared for the great House, for Shlomo his son (כָּל אֵלֶּה הֵכִין דָּוִד לַבַּיִת הַגָּדוֹל לִשְׁלֹמֹה בְנוֹ).
