Mishnah 6 (מִשְׁנָה ו׳)

The number of the stones was thirty-six thousand (מִנְיָן שֶׁל אֲבָנִים ל״ו אֶלֶף), and the number of the pearls was likewise (וּמִנְיָן הַמַּרְגָּלִית כָּךְ). All these the Heikhal [Sanctuary] was built with, in three courses (כָּל אֵלּוּ הָיָה הַהֵיכָל בָּנוּי בָּהֶם שְׁלֹשָׁה נִדְבָּכִין), and one course of almug wood (וְנִדְבָּךְ אֶחָד שֶׁל עֲצֵי הָאַלְמוֹגִים). And they were overlaid with fine gold (וְהָיוּ מְחוּפִין זָהָב טוֹב), and set into the structure (וּנְתוּנִים בַּבִּנְיָן). All these were concealed by the righteous ones of Israel (כָּל אֵלּוּ הֶחְבִּיאוּם הַכְּשֵׁרִים שֶׁבְּיִשְׂרָאֵל), because of Nevukhadnetzar (מִפְּנֵי נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּר). And the almug wood shone like the brightness of the firmament (וְהָאַלְמוֹגִים מַזְהִירִין כְּזֹהַר הָרָקִיעַ).
